Accessibility

The Syracuse Welcome planning team is committed to making an accessible experience for all new students and visitors. Below please find information on navigating campus and events during Syracuse Welcome, August 24-27, 2017. If you need additional accommodations, please do not hesitate to email the Office of First-Year & Transfer Programs at newtosu@syr.edu or via phone at 315-443-1012. This number will also be staffed during Syracuse Welcome.

Navigating Campus

A number of shuttles are available for visitors Tuesday, August 22-Friday, August 25. The shuttles run on the following schedule:

Bus service will also run every 20 minutes from South Campus, Manley and Skytop. A parking shuttle will run from Day and Flint Hall (Mount Olympus) until 11pm both Wednesday and Thursday. While the shuttles have a published route, please do not hesitate to ask the driver to take you directly to where you need to go.

Parking

Visit the campus parking map for a list of campus parking lots. This parking map also denotes disabled parking spaces. Parking will be open for visitors in all legal parking spaces during Syracuse Welcome. Visit the Syracuse Welcome Guide for further details.

If you need assistance parking during new student move-in, please ask a Syracuse University Parking Services staff member for assistance.

Accessing Buildings

A map of campus buildings including accessible entrances can be found online at map.syr.edu. For information on accessing the Carrier Dome during New Student Convocation on Thursday, August 24, please visit the Carrier Dome website.

Hearing Impairment

Most Syracuse Welcome programs will use CART (communications access real time translation).  Some will also have a sign-language interpreter.

Meals During Syracuse Welcome

Families can eat breakfast and lunch free of charge on Tuesday, August 22; Wednesday, August 23; Thursday, August 24; and Friday, August 25 (breakfast only) in the Syracuse University Dining Center. There is a small fee for dinner. Food Services offers a variety of items to meet all dietary needs. For more information visit the Syracuse University Food Services website.

The Syracuse Welcome Picnic following New Student Convocation on Thursday, August 24. A special buffet line will be available for Kosher/Halal needs.
