Transfer Course Selection & Registration

School of Architecture

Incoming architecture transfer students will be emailed an individualized Transfer Student Information Packet in July.  Should you feel entitled to transfer credit in core architecture requirements, you will have the opportunity to present supportive evidence, such as course syllabi, notes, course work etc. to representatives of the faculty who teach in those areas during the first week of classes.  Please bring evidence of accomplishment, such as course syllabi, class notes or examples of work. View the course descriptions to help you compare and match the course content of the courses you feel should transfer. 

We will register you for your core courses. BArch transfer students will NOT have access to the First Term Enrollment Selections form designed for freshman students. After your transfer credit evaluations are completed you will be able to adjust your schedule accordingly.  

In order to access your email through MySlice, you must activate your netID and password.  Make sure to check your @syr.edu email account regularly for updates and important information for transfer students. Please contact Karen Baris with any questions at kebaris@syr.edu.

College of Arts and Sciences

On May 15th, all transfer students will receive an email on their syr.edu email account.  This will include a link to our website which explains how to select classes for your first semester using the interactive course planner called First Term Enrollment Selections (FTES). Access to FTES through myslice.syr.edu will begin May 22nd. Please take note that the deadline for completing this process is July 3rd. If you matriculate after this date, you will still need to submit your course selections through FTES and we will do our best to construct a schedule for you prior to Syracuse Welcome!

  • If you are dually enrolled in Arts and Sciences and Newhouse, or you are a combined student in Arts and Sciences and Engineering and Computer Science, you will follow the Arts and Sciences registration process.
  • For help, call 1-800-295-0994, 8a.m.-4:30p.m., M-F, EST starting May 23rd or email casadvising@syr.edu.

School of Education

You will receive a welcome letter on Monday, May 22 to your syr.edu email to set up a phone appointment to discuss your fall 2017 class schedule with an advisor in the School of Education. 

Notes for dually-enrolled students:

  • If your major is Inclusive Early Childhood Special Education:
    You are a dually enrolled student in the School of Education and the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.  You will receive an email on Monday, May 22 to schedule a phone appointment with a School of Education advisor.
  • If your major is: English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, or Spanish Education:
    You are dually enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education.  Please refer to the College of Arts and Sciences course selection and registration process.
  • If your major is Art Education or Music Education:
    You are a dually enrolled student in the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the School of Education.  Please refer to the College of Visual and Performing Arts course selection and registration process.

College of Engineering and Computer Science

For your first semester at SU, the professional staff in the Student Records Office will register you for the courses most appropriate for you. E&CS recommends that students take up to 15 – 17 credits in the first semester to assist with the transition to university academics.

Please review the following instructions. If you have any questions, please call 315-443-5191. Deadline to submit “Course Selections” is Friday, July 7th, 2017.

  1. To access MySlice students must activate the NetID and Password.  Here is a link to Net ID and Password help: http://its.syr.edu/netid/ .
  2. If you were not given credit or have not taken Calculus I, you must complete the Mathematics Placement Exam online at http://myslice.syr.edu
  3. Review your most updated Transfer Credit Evaluation Summary and curriculum sheet pertaining to your major.
  4. In order to process your schedule accurately, we must receive the appropriate scores and transcripts.
  5. Please email us with your course selection at undergradrecords@ecs.syr.edu

Also choose alternative courses in case your first choices are not available.

David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics

You will receive an email from Falk through your syr.edu email address once you are matriculated.  The email will outline the advising and registration process for transfer students.  

Please send your final official transcripts from your previous college(s) as soon as possible to the address below, so we can determine how the courses you have taken will count toward your academic requirements.  We cannot advise you for courses until we have your official transcripts. Transcripts may be sent electronically or by mail - usually from the registrar's office of your previous college.

Newhouse transfer students will be contacted by Academic Adviser, Rich Mendez (rmmendez@syr.edu) during the month of June to discuss course options and transfer credits.

Whitman School of Management

On May 1st, you will receive a welcome letter via email from the Whitman School Assistant Dean, Lindsay Quilty, that will include information about a timeline of communications regarding summer expectations, including course selections. On May 15th, you’ll receive additional information with specifics about course selection with helpful instructions.  After activating your netID and password, you will complete your First Term Enrollment Selections in MySlice.  The deadline for completing your First Term Enrollment Selections is June 15, 2017. Please have all official college transcripts mailed to:

Transcript requirements - the College of Visual and Performing Arts requires that an official, final transcript be submitted in order to grant credit.  Please have all official college transcripts (your high school transcript is not necessary) mailed to:
